SCRIPTURE: And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them. They also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.” Acts 1:9-11, NASB

THOUGHT: So now that we are at the end of the Daniel Fast, many of us may be asking the question, “What now?” or What’s next?” I know I have asked that question in Daniel Fasts past. It is a question I find myself asking often. In trying to be a good husband, a good father, a good pastor, a good businessman and a good school board member, I find myself looking at my watch or phone often, contemplating what I need for the next meeting, at times to the detriment of the meeting I am in at that time. Busy, busy, busy. In 2016, I have found the answer—as cliched as it may be—“Let go…and let God.” My plan is simple: let go of the unimportant, live each moment God gives to the fullest and let Him take care of the rest. I accept the gentle prodding of His Spirit through the scripture in Acts 1 to not just watch, but to go, to do, to live.

PRAYER: My God and Father, I pray for re-focus—for myself and every person who reads this prayer. Help each one of us to let go of those things that are not important. Lead us to focus on the people around us and the life in which You have put us. May this be the year that we truly trust in You for EVERYTHING. That I would become much less, and You would be much, much more, anticipating the miraculous for my life, for those around me and for theBridge in 2016…and beyond. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
